Fiske, 24, was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday evening. "I had never been around that much money," Fiske told MarketWatch last month. Together, they've discussed "how my financial life is going to change" upon signing an NFL contract, Fiske noted. "I'm putting money into mutual funds, index funds, high-yield savings accounts and maybe exploring new investment opportunities, too," he said, adding: "I also have a Roth IRA ... But that doesn't mean he won't splurge on a fun purchase: He's an avowed fan of Nike's Air Jordan 1 sneakers, for example.

The idea of young athletes reaping instant riches has long been an annual subplot of the NFL draft. The money I received gave me a peace of mind I did not have previously," Fiske told Business Insider. Though he made some savvy choices, Fiske admitted he made "a few mistakes" early on after receiving his NIL money. "I'm sure I'll give in once I see more 0s on my account," Fiske told MarketWatch.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Florida State coach Mike Norvell said the possibility of leaving his unbeaten Seminoles out of the College Football Playoff shouldn't even be discussed. Florida State made things as difficult as possible on the CFP selection committee, using a dominant defensive performance to beat No. In all likelihood, Rodemaker would be ready to play should Florida State make the playoff, but even he has only started two games. Florida State also had 14 tackles for loss and 10 pass breakups. “I feel like we go out there and play for each other and we are a close-knit team,” Toafili said.

CNN —Hawaiian Electric Company said that power lines falling in high winds seem to have caused a fire during the early morning of August 8, but power lines in West Maui had been de-energized for more than six hours by the time a second afternoon fire began in the Lahaina area. The company made the comments in a new response Sunday to a lawsuit filed by the County of Maui. In a press release, HECO mentioned videos showing that power lines had fallen to the ground in high winds near the intersection of Lahainaluna Road and Hookahua Street at approximately 6:30am. But that morning fire was declared 100% contained by the Maui County Fire Department by 9am, they said. By the time the Maui County Fire Department arrived back on the scene, it was not able to contain that fire, and it spread out of control toward Lahaina, the release says.

Maui County sued Hawaiian Electric last week, accusing the utility of negligently failing to shut off power and causing the devastating fires that destroyed the coastal town of Lahaina and killed more than 114 people. "We were surprised and disappointed that the County of Maui rushed to court even before completing its own investigation," CEO Shelee Kimura said in a statement. Even with Monday's rally, shares are still down more than 60% since the wildfires started on Aug. 8. "To the extent HECO (Hawaiian Electric Co) has information of a second ignition source, HECO should offer that evidence now.
